The Burge/Packer Reconstruction
Our own partially complete reconstruction takes its plan from
that on the Forma Urbis, and, like Gismondi’s reconstruction,
divides the seating area into three horizontal sections (the
ima,media,summa cavea). The marbles used for the columns of the
scaenae frons come from descriptions of shafts found chiefly along
the Via dei Chiavari and chronicled in the Archaeo-logical
register.
